Hello, Dr SK Consultant Paediatric Neuropsychologist Birmingham here from Medico-Legal and Neuroscience Partnership. I am based in Birmingham but I will also travel to Scotland to assess clients.
I currently work at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where I am Lead Paediatric Neuropsychologist. This involves overseeing the provision of neuropsychological assessments to a variety of services, including acquired brain injury and rehabilitation, epilepsy surgery, neuro-oncology, inherited metabolic disorders, neurology and craniofacial surgery. I contribute to a number of research projects involving the neuropsychological assessment of children in these areas, including an international study on brain injury outcome in children. I provide neuropsychological assessments on numerous clinical trials for children with inherited metabolic and neurological disorders.
I have worked with children and adolescents for over 28 years, formerly within North Warwickshire NHS Trust (subsequently becoming North Warwickshire and Coventry Partnership Trust). I established a paediatric neuropsychological assessment service. This involved a range of activities including assessment, therapy, training and staff supervision. I have also worked with children presenting with a variety of psychological difficulties, whilst maintaining my specialist interest in working with children with acquired brain injury and neurodevelopmental disorders. I have considerable experience of working with children with a life-limiting/life-threatening illness.
In addition to my NHS work, I have a private practice in Paediatric Neuropsychology, and have been providing Expert neuropsychology reports, in personal injury claims for the past 25 years. I have no professional bias in which instructions I receive. I also providing reports for an independent multidisciplinary team (Neuro Paediatric Services) as an Associate.
In addition to the above, I am an Honorary Lecturer to Birmingham University. I provide lectures on child health and paediatric neuropsychology. I am actively involved in research within neuropsychology, have a number of publications and have delivered presentations both nationally and internationally.
