Introducing Dr ZA: Consultant Respiratory Physician and Experienced Medico-Legal Expert Witness

We are pleased to present Dr ZA, a highly experienced Consultant Respiratory and General Physician and Bond Solon–certified Expert Witness, offering specialist medico-legal opinion in complex respiratory cases.

Dr ZA has been practising in the UK for over 15 years and currently holds a substantive consultant post at City and Sandwell General Hospital (SWBH NHS Trust). He leads specialist clinics in lung cancer, sleep and non-invasive ventilation, pleural disease, and general respiratory medicine, and performs advanced procedures including bronchoscopy, EBUS, medical thoracoscopy, and chest drain insertion.

Since 2019, Dr ZA has provided expert medico-legal reports covering respiratory and occupational lung disease, personal injury, trauma, industrial exposure, smoking-related conditions, and disability assessments. He offers expert opinion in areas including:

  • Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

  • Pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial lung disease

  • Sleep-disordered breathing and non-invasive ventilation

  • Pleural disease and thoracic procedures

  • Chest trauma/injury

  • Occupational and industrial lung disease (including asbestos, dust, chemical and vapour exposure)

  • Tuberculosis, lung cancer and infection-related respiratory disease

He holds the Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate (Cardiff University, 2020) and has undertaken a wide portfolio of expert witness training. His reports are clear, well-structured, and compliant with civil procedure and court standards.

Qualifications include:

  • MBBS (1998)

  • Diploma in Tuberculosis & Chest Diseases (2002)

  • MRCP (UK) – Royal College of Physicians (2010)

  • European Diploma in Adult Respiratory Medicine (2011)

  • Respiratory Specialty Certificate Examination – RCP (2012)

  • ERS-PG Certification in Sleep Medicine (2022)

Dr ZA is actively involved in supervision, medical education, and clinical leadership. He is Lead for Sleep and NIV services at his Trust and played a significant role in designing respiratory support infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With clinic availability across the UK — and capacity to consider home and prison visits — Dr ZA accepts instructions for personal injury, clinical negligence, respiratory disability assessment, long-term lung disease, occupational exposure, and causation reports.
