Dr Allan Thomas, Consultant Neuroradiologist MB BS DM(Radiology) FRCR MSc(Diploma)
Dr Allan Thomas is a Consultant Neuroradiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, and has been practising in the field of Radiology since 1997. He is the neuroradiology clinical lead for stroke imaging and intervention, and has contributed to the teaching of SpRs as well as improving on Neuro-oncology and Neurovascular diagnostic and interventional services. He also has sub-speciality training in Interventional Neuroradiology and Head & Neck Radiology.
Dr Thomas has been appointed the Neuroradiology Tutor with responsibility for Core and Specialist Neuroradiology trainees. He is also the nominated radiologist for a number of oncology and stroke intervention trials such as RESTART, REDUCE, TICH, OPARATIC to name a few.
Dr Thomas has written and contributed to a range of publications across areas concerned with neuroradiology and brain imaging, and has previous medico-legal neuroradiology / medical reporting experience, including giving evidence in court.
As part of our ancillary services, Dr Thomas reports on MRI scans of the brain, head and neck, spine, sacroiliac joints, brachial plexus, lumbosacral plexus and sciatic nerve. For those patients who cannot have an MRI scan (such as those with pacemakers), Dr Thomas can report on CT myelogram's.
